I-90 will be closed this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They are hauling a 200 ton lump of coal from Pennsylvania to South Dakota so they can add President Obama to Mount Rushmore. That will be some tax bill. A cap on that perhaps? I can think of a trade I'd like to make. Now, we all know a man never landed on the moon. And it's equally certain the government covered up the landing of "Alf" in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, but have you ever thought it was a coincidence that the Cap n' Trade bill never saw the light of the "news" day because that news was eclipsed by the passing of Michael Jackson? In my high school and college years my friends enjoyed a sense of humor that would not be acceptable today. This was before "political correctness" reared its head. Ugly or otherwise. In those years, you see, Jews, Irish, Italians, Catholics, Protestants, and even Blacks (to a lesser extent) vied to tell the most awful jokes about their compatriots. A joke-tellers success was measured by the volume of the crowd's laughter. There was a particular rivalry between the Irish and Italians. It likely had something to do with their propensity for inter-marrying. Come to think of it, the Jews had a "thing" for the Irish ladies as well. Ask any Jew. I suppose "correctness" has its place, but I preferred that time when we could just laugh at our outrageous silliness. "Correctness" be damned. I love to tell Texas jokes. And, I can make them up like Jeff Foxworthy making up "... you might be a Redneck" jokes. If somebody asks why my accent is so thick, I tell them that they don't teach thier babies to talk down there, they just leave them to thier own devices and take whatever happens along that regard. I get a lot of horrified reactions because practically nobody realizes that this is what is done everywhere. I even had one guy from the Near East ask, shocked, "Do they still do that?"
