Bill K
Anyone else get a PM from a new member W/o posts headed "need help" or something similar with only a link for the message? Bruce Nunnally
It was a spam PM with a link to a bad site. I have erased all the pm's from that person, and temporarily turned off PM's for registered users until we get the next patch in place to prevent. [now applied and pm's back on] Sorry for the inconvenience. thanks, bruce See also Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube

Bruce Nunnally
We'll just keep the banning the riffraff as distractions and get back to talking about Cadillacs. Cadillac Jim
I just got a SPAM email from Brad Pitt's Twitter page. My Twitter screen name was given as my Caddyinfo login in the Internet headers. I do NOT have a Twitter account. The link was to twitter dot com/JrBradPitt; I did NOT click it. It's probably a page with a bunch of scam, gambling, or porn links. It's a jungle out there. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Cadillac Jim
I forwarded the message to Bruce and he said the Twitter page consisted of a bunch of ads and links to other web sites. I had already forwarded it to Twitter abuse so I figure that the account is gone by now, unless abuse@twitter.com is just a black hole. The thing that bothers me is that the email gave my Twitter screen name as Jims_97_ETC which I use only on Caddyinfo -- and CadillacFoursm, where I'm not active. Maybe I better check my profile over there -- I just did and my email address is private there, too. So, how did this guy associate my Caddyinfo screen name with my real email address? -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Bruce Nunnally
I think it is twitter spam from that account is all. On twitter you can block this person on their twitter page. Cadillac Jim
It turns out that I did have a Twitter account. Apparently is was mapped from another service that collects resumes in the ruse of a professional networking site, linkedin.com; the profile was something I hoked up to check out a friend's account, and I found that it was a resume generator. Linkedin.com is probably a resource for headhunters, and is the same outfit as twitter.com. In any case I just cancelled my Twitter and Linkedin accounts. The key question is how Twitter got my Caddyinfo display name.
