Bruce Nunnally
I am thinking that a fun local Cadillac event might include: Breakfast / Coffee / Refreshments / Gather Cadillac Rally (transit from Breakfast to the Rodeo location) -- can be a complex, 5 way-point rally or very simple Cadillac Concours / Photo Opportunity Cadillac Rodeo (autocross) This would be a low speed autocross laid out to allow members to enjoy their Cadillacs Rally II - transit to Lunch. (alternate: Awards/Discussion, break before lunch) (Alternate: Bring picnic lunches) Lunch / Awards / Discussion . Awards: Best Detailed, Fastest Rodeo Time, Highest Miles, Grand Tourer (longest travel to the event) etc. What do you think? Other ideas? Bruce Nunnally
TexasJim and I went off to drive my rally route 75McDermott across the Lake and Back Share your motorbike routes @ MotoWhere.com Unfortunately I missed the 3rd turn and took us way off the map lol. We kept seeing bicyclists and motorcycles so I assumed I was still on the right path for the scenic drive (doh). Next time we have the guy with the in-car nav system lead! Texas Jim
No problem on the getting lost, Bruce. I like driving my Cadillac, as I know you do also. It was a fun morning and that cinnamon roll at Tony's cafe was BIG...and very, very good. I really liked all the extra icing they put on it. The one thing we forgot...I wanted you to drive the DTS...to see the difference in driveability that it has now.

Bruce Nunnally
Has this event: already happened/will happen/maybe-might happen? Just notional thinking about what activities to have at Cadillac Get-togethers. Obviously can be as simple as 'meet for dinner' or more complex than the listed ideas. I think my favorite Sat morning would include a Cadillac car show, autocross, and rally. What would you want in a Cadillac Event? Bruce Nunnally
I've been to Cadillac/LaSalle club events with mostly antique cars, and gotten together occasionally as opportunity allowed with people off the forums. I generally find that we have plenty of shared interest in the cars and everyone is welcome. I like seeing any year Cadillac, especially if it is taken care of. Don't let the newer car fool you. That don't mean anything except that I like Cadillacs. I am just a plain ol' working guy with almost no education. I work for Wells Fargo bank. You have several of them there in Austin. I drive around and fix the computers when the tellers and bankers tear them up.

Now...THATS an idea and NO..I don't know Bruton Smith, but they have some HUGE parking lots out there for an autocross and there are a lot of old two lane roads out there that would be perfect for a rally. I will see if I can find a contact to talk to..if Bruce is agreeable to it. Also a couple of times a year, they have a LAPS FOR CHARITIES event. You get to run 2 or 3 laps around the racetrack and for an extra 10 bucks...they take an 8x10 picture of your car in the winners circle. I will check on the date for the next one. BodybyFisher
By the way Jim, don't think I wouldn't love to drive your car, I would, but keep in mind that I must return to my car! THAT is a bummer! I am into high end AUDIO equipment also. When I used to go to my friends high end audio shop and listen to $50,000 in high end audio equipment it was awesome, but it really highlighted how mediocre my own system was. There are so many hobbies and experiences that create that. I really need to get a new car at this point, my case half leak is out of control using 10w30 in the winter, I smell oil burning constantly, I have a deep engine knock, my suspension needs work, I smell coolant again, needs tires, brake hoses, rear brake line, knuckle bushings, and my emissions system needs work. Id would be high risk to drive it on a long trip at this point without spending some time bringing it back to life. One thing I do notice is that I need to constantly do maintenance on this engine. It really needs a rebuild at 126K miles. In another thread, someone discussed low oil pressure at idle, that is what I get. I whole heartedly believe its the case half seal leaking internally at the oil galleys' but have not gotten anyone to agree with me or think deeply about it with me. I find that frustrating by the way but sorry to get off topic. Every car at some point, runs its course with you and its time to part ways. I am there at this point. I have seriously thought of buying one with a bad head gasket and repairing it. I don't make a lot of money. I am just a computer tech working for a company. My problem is, I appreciate most of the finer things in life, as evidently you do also, but the pocket book doesn't allow me to indulge my tastes very much or very often. I too love high end audio equipment. I used to have some real nice tube type Macintosh stuff. I wish I had never sold it. It had such a pure, clean sound. It is almost impossible to get THAT sound with transistors. The system I have now is just barely adequate (to me) for listening to. Other people say it sounds great...to me it is just barely acceptable. I have Champagne Tastes with a Beer Pocketbook. There are several hobbies I might like to get into, but to do it RIGHT, and go HIGH END...I just can't afford it at this time.

I think what you do for insurance is have everyone sign waivers so you are not liable for anything. We have several things I want to test, and I want to 'practice' at setting up an autocross event before we commit to having one with a lot of people there wondering why we don't know what we are doing. The Speedway event sounds fun, just have to work out the logistics so its not 3 hrs of setup for 10 min of lap time at 75 mph. Course, may be fun even so. BodybyFisher
I told you, we were separated at birth! I had a Mac tube amp in college, there is nothing like them you are correct, my friend started out his business with Dynaco tube amps. I built my Hafler amp and pre-amp, it came in a kit design and I saved money building it. The Amp is a Mos-Fet design and they are billed as being similar sounding to tubes. I modified the amp a few years about a new power supply, huge caps and toroidal coils, the thing puts out about 8 amps now and probably could fry my B&W DM2000's now. I need to replace the volume control on my pre-amp its scratchy and inaccurate. I really dont like CDs either. Recently I purchased a Creative USB 24 bit digital audio processor for my computer and have found that high rez auto files sound pretty incredible, my system has opened up and become very detailed. So the progress continues... Its funny, I gave up serious audio because I got to the point where I would have needed a sound proof room to really appreciate it, so I gave up Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Bruce Nunnally
Here is info on the Equipe Rapide Sports Car Club autocross at Mineral Wells, Texas: link with a lot of background on what autocross is and how to and event details. I think it would be more fun if all Cadillacs though. But it might certainly make sense to attend their driving school and watch and learn from them on how to setup the event.
