If you want significant boost like 5 psi and up, you need to make engine, sensor, and PCM mods:

  • Lower compression ratio -- the effective compression ratio is [mechanical CR]*(1 + [boost in psi]/14.7] and this should be about 10.3.
  • MAP sensor that will provide data at boost pressures as well as manifold vacuum.
  • A new PCM that will work over boost as well as vacuum with the spark advance and other circuits.
To lower the compression ratio you need piston and/or head modifications.
