brownLaso posted a topic in Cadillac Deville, Eldorado, Seville, Fleetwood, Sixty SpecialHello everyone, i need help with my 1999 Cadillac Deville. I've owned it for one year now. Currently has 96,195 miles & had 94,300 when i purchased it. I have only done one oil change and regularly drive 4 miles to work, four back. Two weeks ago it began stalling because it was low on oil (about 1 qt) The check engine light came on first and then the oil light after stalling a few times. I topped it off to the correct level and the stalling seemed to stop. The oil light went away but the check engine light stayed on. The car normally idles at 625/650 rpm and is spiking down to 500 and sometimes randomly drops to 0 were it stalls... It runs around 200/215 F*. After reading a similar post could the wires plugs possibly have something to do with it? NorthstarAJ mention it in a different post, "Bad plug wires cause 4X codes and stalling" 2nd page. I attached a picture of the only funky wire that i could find and one of my plug wires. Also, before all of this happened the car seem to jerk in between the speeds of 30mph to 40 but it never stalled or had any check engine light come on. I pulled the codes and got (1350 ECM engine component module/ Ignition Control System?), (1375 - crankshaft sensor), (1377 - IC Cam Pulse To 4X Reference Pulse) and (0404p - EGR exhaust gas recirculation Open Position Performance). Thank you for any help, information i can get.
bruegelpie posted a topic in General Cadillac ForumsMy 2002 Seville SLS at 96K miles has started stalling when accelerating from idle (while at a stop light or stop sign). When I press on the gas peddle it jerks and lurches for a few seconds or it outright stalls all together (sometimes it does both - lurching and then stalling). The car starts without a problem. The car does not stall while I am driving, only when I accelerate from an idle while at a stop light or stop sign. I've read that this could be related to an Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve. I've also read that it could be the IAC valve. Because it does not happen while I am driving at a steady speed, I read that it would not be the crank position sensor. The only current code the car throws is a MSM B2375, which is a stability sensor code (I think). Advice greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
This is an LT1 engine. The other day I was testing EGR passages by depressing the diaphragm of the EGR valve with fingers at idle. Despite the engine was warmed up, it died when barely pressed on the diaphragm. I know it indicates that the EGR passages are clean, but it would take much more movement of the diaphragm to make my 4.9 l engine die. It could be an indication that the passages on the 4.9 were in worse shape than the ones on this LT1, but anyway I was surprised. It just means this engine is so much more sensitive to EGR flow.
Thecapnisin posted a topic in Cadillac Deville, Eldorado, Seville, Fleetwood, Sixty SpecialWhen going down the road at operating temperatures, while giving just a small amount of gas the engine seems to stumble or missfire, and sometimes even will completely stall after you take your foot off the pedal. When I unplug the EGR valve it works fine, but when I plug it back in the troubles come back. Already tried replacing the EGR valve but it had no effect. Any suggestions?
