This subforum is for Cadillac CTS specific information, discussion, mods & performance info, future model info, support, and repairs, 2003-Current Models.
Off-topic here are posts not related to the Cadillac CTS.
Sometimes once you identify a place/date/time then people are more responsive. One good piece of advice I got for arranging get-togethers is to plan it for somewhere YOU want to go. Then if NO ONE else shows up, you're still golden.
This subforum is for discussion of other GM vehicles which share a common platform or powertrain with Cadillac, and so may have common issues, advice, or concerns.
Oldsmobile Aurora G body platform, 4.0L northstar powertrain
Pontiac Bonneville GXP 4.6L : G body, 4.6L northstar powertrain
Buick LeSabre 2000-2004 shares
Buick Lucerne 2005- shares platform and powertrain with the Deville
Shares a powertrain with the Cadillac 3.6L:
+ Buick Lacrosse 3.6L
+ Saturn Aura 3.6L
+ Holden Commodore SV6
+ Saturn Outlook 3.6L
I have changed the format a bit.
Now there are some set threads, like for Links to Cadillac Parts and Accessories, and we can add other links to those.
Then I can transfer links as we go to the website at http://www.caddyinfo.com/link.html
Oh good, glad to hear Firefox works with the smilies.
Apparently there is some firewall interaction with smilies on some computers. So, here was a long post on how to fix that if that is what you are having: http://www.karlsforums.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=18791 which is from another site, but I attempted to mod their instructions for our site below and am posting for archive for the next person who has no smilies to consider:
-----------------------------------------
If you use Norton Internet Security 2004 this is the fix: (you will probably find it easier if you print these instructions)
Open NIS by double clicking the icon in the System Tray (bottom right hand of your screen)
Note: this is the NIS icon (small green/blue orb) - not the Anit Virus icon (yellow screen computer)
Double click PRIVACY CONTROL
Select ADVANCED
Click ADD SITE
A box will appear with 'WWW' already entered. Change this to 'caddyinfo.ipbhost.com' without the quotes.
Click OK
With the newly entered 'caddyinfo.ipbhost.com' hightlighted go to the right hand pane and untick 'Use Default Settings' in all boxes and ensure 'PERMIT' is selected.
Now go to ADD BLOCKING. Cut and paste this address:
http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com
into the 'Customise Ad Block List for Selected URL' box.
Ensure once you have added the URL that you click on it and select 'PERMIT'
Click OK / OK and close NIS
Refresh the screen - the avatars etc should now appear.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
It works with IE or Firefox; there is something going on is all.
If you put up firefox and see smilies then we know it is an IE issue or IE interaction issue I guess.
Do you have Norton Security running? One person with a similar problem said that was interacting somehow, and when he disabled it he could see smilies.
Check this:
If you go to "My Controls" and click on "Board Setting" under "Options" you will see a setting that allows you to see these:
Do you wish to view images in posts, such as smilies and posted images? Y/N
Choose Yes.
Yes, someone else was having a no-smilies problem too. What I think is that I had turned off graphics for guests, so that if one loaded graphics while a guest while they were turned off, you got X's. And now your browser has them cached as missing. By reloading the cache (Control-F5 apparently) you ask the browser to try again to find them.
I am keen to discover what fixes this.
That appears to be the Chilton Guide; note the 9104, and the images are in a directory called "chiltonimages". It is from this book:
Chiton's General Motors: Deville/Fleetwood/Eldorado/Seville 1990-98 Repair Manual by Rick Van Dalen (0801991048 0-8019-9104-8)
Oh -- from this page you can reach manuals for a lot of different cars:

ARRC = Auto Repair Reference Center
I setup an account on photobucket, and was able to immediately post a picture. They help you by providing links to display the photo, or to a tag or a link.
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h115/cad...os/IMAG0189.jpg
for example is a photo of my CTS Corsa system before it went on the CTS,
and
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h115/cad...os/IMAG0190.jpg
is an "after" view.
Using something called Bucket show, this slideshow link:

The only thing I don't see is that they don't offer pre-scaled image versions. And the gadget here on the board does not remember scaling well. So you basically have to scale the image to the size you want it to be then put it on photobucket. I do see they offer thumbnails though if you click the box under an image then choose "generate html", which seems very good:
I would love to see more photos in posts. Outside photo links are a triple win though, as they don't consume disk space here, they are not limited in size as we need to limit the photos posted here, and they don't count in the board bandwidth limits/cost.
Started on an overall / overdue caddyinfo.com home site makeover.
The http://www.caddyinfo.com page and indexed pages are updated. I will work through the rest of the site day by day, page by page.
You can still hit the old home page at http://www.caddyinfo.com/orig_index.html btw if you get home sick.
The Subscription links got broken somehow, and were showing a fatal error when you clicked on them. I have fixed that now; they are here: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?act...subs&CODE=index
Also added a direct donation button back on the http://www.caddyinfo.com homepage, with more info on how to get to the forum contribution link above in case that was what the reader intended.
Cafepress has added black t-shirts as a new item style.
Here is a link: http://www.cafepress.com/caddyinfo.59158938
This one has a Northstar Engine on it:
A bit pricey perhaps at $20.99, but $2 of that goes to Caddyinfo.com. I am open for ideas on stuff you'd like to see at the Caddyinfo Cafepress store.
Link to Cardio-Doc's current Ebay auctions (this is a search link):
Please direct questions about any of the products shown to Cardio-Doc via the appropriate auction. He's not here, he's out picking up more wheels in his Lamborghini.
