  1. Personally I LOVE Virginia Beach..... Cape May, Wildwood, Philadelphia. I used to have a connection with Ruggerie General Sales Cadillac in West Chester, Pa. Maybe Ill give them a call and see if they can do anything. If you recall, Marika took photos at a Cadillac show at Brogan Cadillac, something like that would be fun...
  2. Um, they're? You'll be kicking in also....and in a big way since you require a drinking partner You and Fred will be partying!
  3. This is getting a lot less interest than I thought it would from our recent discussions. Its seemed that we had a lot of interest from the New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York areas.
  4. When you get a chance visit the 19th Hole (top) and tell us what you think of us getting together for regional meetings. We are exploring this idea and are open to any thoughts you might have. See the first post its a rough guide that we can expand on and refine: Here is a link to the top of the 19th Hole: http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showforum=40
  5. See this thread also page 1, see Paul and BodybyFisher http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...1&hl=bypass
  6. redhot, make sure you changed your coolant by now. It needs to be changed at 5 years or 100,000 miles, Mike
  7. Imagine how cool that would be? You can make that determination really quickly, I would purchase one of those kits that detects combustion gases in the coolant so you can cut to the chase real quickly when you get it to the motel on the way home.... Here is that kit: http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLM...2f+Engine+Block Here is the manufacturer with a better description: http://www.testtoolsinc.com/
  8. Mike check this site to see what timeserts look like http://www.timesert.com Mike
  9. Oh no Jim, that was not what I meant at all, I was not implying that you nor was I bad mouthing the aftermarket guys. But from my discussions with Boston, they did a lot of research to solve this issue. I myself have dealt with this suspension message for quite some time. Its just that, it seems that the FIRST resistor you recommended worked. I say, bravo Jim! It is not my intention here to bad-mouth the aftermarket folks. Boston (and others) were probably acting in good faith when they supplied a 12 Ohm, 50 Watt resistor for your model / year. The problem is the 12 Ohm value given in the 1996 Service Manual is what an Ohmeter would display for a damper valve continuity check. This entire ride control message discussion involves values of inductance, inductive reactance, and impedance. There is more electronic theory than most folks want to, or need to, know when they only want to replace struts or shocks.
  10. I was thinking the same thing, its amazing that they have not done any experimenting. You saw what Boston sent me, 12 ohm 50 watt resistor. And a 10,000 ohm 1/2 watt does the trick. I think Boston owes you Jim.... I can't wait to try the resistor.
  11. You know what else? I think I would have a hard time selling my car with that Service Ride Control message on... Now, I think I will be able to see my car much more easily... I put my order in today for a 96 thru 98 STS.... I have a good friend watching for one to come in at a Penna Caddy dealer...
  12. Thanks Jim, and thanks Kevin for trying it out...
  13. Nice Kevin! I will be trying the same on my 96, Thanks (1/2 watt)? Thanks
  14. Disconnect that strut and see if the shorted to ground changes, if not its possible that the strut damper valve is bad..
  15. The strut is connected to the computer via a two wire plug. you disconnect the strut and connect a resistor on the side that goes to the computer. I think Jim said that a 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt resistor does the trick. IF and ONLY IF you are certain that your damper valve is bad in your strut you can CUT the wire and wire in the resistor and keep the plug in place. Jim will comment on the resistor value for your 98 I am sure. Mike
  16. Going OEM depends on how deep your pockets are, my struts are about $2,400 for all four for the parts only from Rockauto. I bought all four from Boston Suspension for about $530, big difference don't you think? The other issue is that my car was 10 years old and I didn't think it was prudent to put $2,400 into struts just to have electronic control. So I went passive. I bought the luxury struts from Boston. My rear installation went very smoothly and they are performing adequately. I am installing the front struts soon, will advise.
  17. I will follow your recommendations Jim and do some testing and let you know what I find out. As you know, I have used the 12 ohm/50 watt resistor that Boston Suspensions provided and it does not work. I will try to do this over the next couple of weeks, what values do you think I should try besides 4.7 ohm, Mike
  18. Definately report back your timesert job we are all interested in how it goes. We have a wall of FAME of members who timesert their engines that you will need to be included in! Start a new thread and post photos if you can. Mike
  19. Actually re-reading my post, I meant UN-impeachable....
  20. I went to the dealer and found out that the gap for the 97 is .060, three techs and the parts department confirmed it.. Asked why that year is .060, and other years are .050, no one knew the answer, nor could they understand why AC Delco, Champion and Autolite's web site states .050.... Personally, I would use .050 and see how she starts and runs due to all of the reading we did regarding high compression engines and due to what Britt said, but if you are happy with .060, terrific. For some reason, I can't help but think this is a mistake (.060), because NO ONE can explain why all other years are .050.. This would bug me
  21. 96 Deville .050 6'5" 230 pounds, black hair, brown eyes Here is a picture from the sticker located in the center of the hood when you look up near the latch/lock mechanism.
