  1. finished paint and reassembly. painted myself in garage, came out as I wanted, looking old!
  2. no I haven't yet, car is apart for painting. hope to get it back together soon for testing. been to busy with work and getting ready for SEMA but will be looking for more tuning soon. It runs good now but I think there is a lot more that can be done with it.
  3. here is a link to the build. I have named it the deVWille. Every part added to the 1969 VW was from 2000 Cadillac Deville. Some are modified, others are mounted to custom brackets for factory look, performance, and design. The most time consuming was rewiring the harness and making schematics of under hood relay panel, lots of internal jumpers to find, and tons of unused components to remove. I can't wait to get PCM tuned up for better performance. I hope to hear from Jake from Northstar Performance soon, I want to get more from this PCM without going aftermarket. Thanks to all for the help.
  4. Thanks for the welcome! It has the Y code motor, still should be 275hp, I think. I put the entire build in on FB as "Dan's Projects". I used the 2000 Deville motor, trans, suspension carriage, brakes, steering column, instrument cluster, wiring harness, radiator, and anything else I could make work fit into the Bug. the front wheel drive was moved to the rear so the brakes had to be relocated front to rear and VW front spindles modified to accept "rear" bearings and "front" disks. rear disks were modified to fit on drive axles. lower control arms were narrowed 2 inches and shorter GM axles installed. frame was built piece by piece and tied together with roll cage, very stiff. I was very surprised how well it drives and handles. it stops on a dime and out corners my porsche boxster! unfortunately I have problems trying to get into the PCM to get some dyno work done, I think it may be with torque control retarding the timing. Madtuner was very help full with the first two programing changes. first go around had it startup and running great, only change on second was to up the "speed limit" for not seeing traction control. I emailed Jake and hope to hear back soon. I am very impressed with the Northstar motor and will probably use it in future projects. will need to find friendlier PCM to work with this motor trans combo. I need to find how to diagnose and "fix" communication error lights from the instrument panel showing trac control, air bag, security, etc... not communicating. another reason to swap PCMs, but I love the look of the Factory Panel!
  5. I have a 2000 Cadillac Deville Northstar 4.6 motor and 4t80e trans installed in project car (VW Beetle) and running on modified Siemens PCM, security, antilock, A/C, traction control, etc. removed. This was performed by Madtuner, who has unfortunately stopped tuning. The car runs good and is a daily driver, but down on power 210 hp only by calculations, 13.6 seconds, 101 mph, 2700 lbs. local dyno shop is willing to tune but nobody knows how to communicate with this PCM. does anybody offer support for this device or swapping to gm, LS PCM? the only devices on the communication link are PCM and Instrument cluster.
