  1. They are Arnott. I really like the quality of them. And I did use the factory air lines
  2. I completely agree. There are other GMs that have the same issue, mostly resolved by 96. I do not remember this ones procedure but I do believe it was unique to this engine. Should be easy to find though
  3. Did this start after the blower replacement? Almost sounds like a pickup issue. Losing pickup signal causing engine to stall. Could be ICM related, typically fail either where the pickup plugs into it or by heat. Most of the time I find they either will not restart until cool, or not at all.
  4. This was my thoughts exactly. The high amperage draw may have been taking out the units. I would be confident you should be good for awhile
  5. Today I reinstalled the Arnott shocks, a oem used compressor from down south. Installed a new dryer on it. I forgot how much work it was to install the coilover shocks. I am going to repurpose them on my Deville. As of right now the system is working. I am not sure of a decent way to check the system for leaks though. The ride quality is for sure smoother with the air shocks. If you want the car to ride like it was designed you have to keep things pretty close to original design. The coilovers combined with the new springs I installed last year made the back too stiff. I did not like how it handled over bumps. Now it just floats again. Fingers crossed I get a few reliable years out of it lol
  6. Bringing back memories. Have not had to change one like yours in quite awhile. Same concept as mine, just different things to move. I hope it works
  7. I have no idea where yours is located. Different place iirc than mine. Probably on the passenger side somewhere. Mine is on the firewall behind the engine
  8. Good news and bad news. I already had a motor on hand that I picked up awhile back. I installed it today. Was not fun. Got more cracks in the shroud. I had to drop the cradle to get it in. Would not go in any other way. The bad news is I cannot figure out where the shield went. I looked everywhere and either never had it or it got misplaced from the motor. I have to check one more spot, and if I cannot locate it I will have to try to get another. I hope I never have to change the motor again. The shocker is that the original motor still looks like brand new... Almost 30 years old
  9. This afternoon I just happened to be home working in my garage, I heard this noise from outside. I could not figure out what it was until I went out to check. Blower turned itself on and was running high speed. Guess the blower is bad. I unplugged it and plugged in a replacement to test and it was off. Plugged original back in and is also off. I am going to try to change it tomorrow. I hate messing with that housing because they just disintegrate just by looking at them. None I have seen have the Cut lines for the access. Just the access to nowhere on the top.
  10. Ok so you have early generation Coil Over Plugs. I like these better, but are still prone to failure. The good thing is they are cheap and easy to replace. Once you find a way to pull specific codes you will know which cylinder(s) are missing. Flashing light means miss is currently occurring. Solid is a hard code from the soft codes. They will usually misfire the most under load, but can at idle as well. Have the spark plugs ever been replaced? Also same issue with the cam cover seals leaking oil.
  11. If you have the 2 coil pack units, one for each bank I bet one or both is failing. I changed quite a few of those. One was silver, one was black. But both were the same otherwise. You need a actual scanner to see which cylinder(s) are misfiring. I typically see cracks, evidence of arcing. A big one is oil in the spark plug wells as well. Cam cover seals fail around spark plug holes and seep oil into spark plug well. If both coil pack units are original it would not be a bad idea to replace both to prevent future failure. May only be available in one color though. Welcome to CaddyInfo. You have come to a great forum
  12. What do you suppose is failing on the Climate controls unit? Trying to think if it may be worth trying to repair one of them
  13. I do recall this issue. Not my issue but have come across a handful of them over the years
  14. Those are for the radiator cooling fans at the front of the subframe. 3 in a row
  15. No fan relay for these. Just 12v +. ground, and PWM control. Will test battery but am confident it is good.
  16. I already felt like I typed too much but I always try to be specific. Battery I took out charged fine, with the same trickle/tender. No clue how it ended up dead in the first place
  17. Hi all. Scratching my head a little, probably thinking too hard. I just took my Seville out from winter storage. I typically start it and run it to temp at least once a month through its storage. It is always on a trickle tender otherwise. Saturday I went to start it up and it was completely dead (still on the trickle charger(read dead). I thought maybe it was the stupid side terminals lost connection so I checked the terminals and put it back on trickle overnight. Note that battery and terminals are a year old or so. Went back Sunday. With another brand new battery just in case. It was still dead. many times the newer chargers, trickle chargers, etc... will not charge what they do not see so I chalked it up to that. Installed the new battery. Fired right up and had no issues, until I shut the car off. The blower motor stayed on. Now I knows its operation was normal while driving, came on as it warmed up and varied its speeds. I unplugged the motor figuring the motor failed and stuck on. So today I plugged the motor back in and it is working properly. It makes me question a few things... Can it fix itself after it fails. I ask this because if it failed and killed the battery I would think it would have come back on when I replaced the battery. The other thing is I cannot remember if the after flow feature is turned on, or how it works anymore lol. I know outside temp was around 60*f, temp setting was whatever it was when I hooked up the battery. 75*f iirc. I hate to change the blower because the case is intact and I do not want to destroy it. It is the original 3 part motor. I have a 1 part replacement but do not feel like using it. I bought a used 3 part one today but it is bad ( multiple corroded/broken windings) Any thoughts appreciated. If battery is dead or blower has a mind of its own then I assume the blower is bad. My 96 Deville failed this way. I came out one day and the blower was running on high for no reason. Hard to believe they are wired to battery, but I suppose the afterblow feature would not work otherwise
  18. Good luck. I remember the constant leveling. Nothing like walking by and it starts making noises lol
  19. I kind of doubt it is air in the system, but I have a purging funnel for cooling systems. It makes even the most difficult cooling system easy to purge, and without making a mess. I always recommend having front end elevated funnel or no funnel, so that the filling point is always the highest point
  20. I have pulled my own parts for years at many yards. Unfortunately disrespectful people ruined it. Smashing, slashing, stealing, wrecking parts to possibly get other parts... you name it
  21. I completely agree on the delco tstat. The quality of so many things has been so bad that words cannot describe, and what's worse is nobody seems to care. I have been trying to find and use old stock whenever I can
  22. Well I am trying not to put much into it, between financials, economy, and rust factor. If I was keeping it for longer I would entertain that. Thank You though I just want to make it safe enough to drive it for another season or so.
  23. There is not a whole lot that should cause it to run cool. Hot maybe, but not cool. I agree about not wanting to touch what might not be broke. Scratching my head here. Maybe the engine is self cooling lol. Have to think some more on this one
  24. When I make it to Vinces in Marcy I will keep an eye out for you. My schedule is very hectic so I am not sure when it will be, but hopefully within the next few weeks.
